I Like Beck’s Guero
Saturday, May 28th, 2005I really do. I like it. It is good.
Thanks sis.

Thanks sis.
Here it is, the first post from my balcony. It’s a very lovely day. Not very sunny right now, but that’s good. It’s a really nice temperature to be sitting out here. Now if I could only figure out a way to make this laptop’s screen brighter.
This time the plugin is called CollapseIt and is what is responsible for collapsing the Archive and Category lists in the menu (if you’re looking at the Default theme on the site, anyway).
Again, like Quick Post, not really something many of you will care about unless you run a WordPress blog. Althought, the CollapseIt plugin has some useful features even for people who don’t use WordPress but want to see a way to safely “hide” a content item (like those lists) and yet still have them show up for people who do not have JavaScript turned on.
Huh, will you look at that, a title that both describes the length of the post and the subject of the post!
Basically I’ve written a plugin for WordPress that lets blog administrators add a “quick post” form anywhere on their blog that they’d like. I use it on a site I run to give the authors a place that they can use to post quickly. It’s even hidden until and unless they want to use it!
So I went to Georgetown today and holy yuppie. Still, it is a nice place with nice stores, store-fronts and shops. You just have to deal with masses of people and an insane amount of yuppie-ness.
It’s a word.
Took some pictures while I was down there, too:
In an unrelated-to-Georgetown note; I’ve also added some other pictures that needed to go up.
I’m sure that you’ve noticed a drastic site layout change.
Woot!
The default theme, right now, is a modified version of the default WordPress 1.5 theme (which is based on the Kubrik theme). There are some things I really dislike about the default theme, including the fact that it’s fixed size, that it uses images and that the heading area is freak’n huge!
So, I’ve modified it and this is the first new style. I like how it looks, so it’s good that it’s the default for now. There are some things that I would like to improve, because I think it’s marginally difficult to read right now. That is not a good thing.
Well, my sister came to visit for the weekend and we had a blast. I went out for Cinco de Mayo on Thursday, before picking my sister up. Then Friday was lunch at this decent Thai place, followed by… actually we didn’t eat dinner except for a slice or two of pizza… anyway, followed by Margaritas with my friend J from work at this place on Wisconsin Ave. called The Cactus Cantina. I don’t know how their food is, since we didn’t eat anything. We were actually there until last call, which came at the confusing hour of midnight. *shrug* Whatever.
Saturday was the Spy Museum, which is a very cool museum (and lunch at the museum’s cafe — which is expensive, btw). I’ve been there 4 times now and had a good time each time I’ve been. After the spy museum we got an hour break and then went to dinner at the Austin Grill with my friend K and her husband C. The Austin Grill appears to be very vegetarian friendly, but I don’t know how vegan friendly it is.
Sunday was Mount Vernon which was beautful as always. There is at least one picture that needs to go up, but I’ll have to wait until my sister emails it to me (I had left my camera in my office, and fate conspired to keep my away from it all weekend). It was an especially nice day, but very windy. They’re doing a bunch of construction (off the main grounds), and that was helping to put a lot of dust in the air. After that, and another short break, we headed out to my friend T’s in Annapolis and hit a few bars. First the Ram’s Head (micro-brewery and good artichoke dip), then Pussers which has cool seating outside on a dock next to the water and serves some good rum drinks, and finally ended up at a sort-of-coffee house-esque place. I was not previously aware of cinnamon vodka.
Monday was basically just the trip out to the airport after work, but I think that’s ok because we were pretty tired.
Shocking, isn’t it.
