Last Day

Tuesday, November 30th, 2004

Well, today is the last day that Georgia, my co-worker here at the PBS Help Desk, is working at the Help Desk. She’s moving on to other things within PBS.

So… today marks the last day of sanity for a bit ;) Or, at least, I fear that it marks the last day of sanity. We’ll be short-handed and there’s so much "little stuff" that I still don’t know. shrug Oh well.

Anyway, here’s a wish for a very slow December. I expect all of you to pull together for me on this one and make sure that it’s quiet here :)

To Put All of You at Ease

Wednesday, November 24th, 2004

I think I’m not sick any more. I’m pretty sure it was one of those 24 hour type illnesses, or maybe it would be 48 but I fought it off (or maybe the second 24 just wasn’t very bad).

In any case, I think I’m all better :)

Holiday Theme

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2004

Ok, I’m screwing around with a holiday theme for Christmas. Checkout the Xmas layout (use the form in the upper right).

Layout-wise it’s the same as the Soft Blue theme, but I started playing with colors and such to get a general color scheme going.

I’m still pondering alternate layouts that actually change the way the information is delivered. Haven’t come up with anything useful yet.

In Other News

Monday, November 22nd, 2004

I think I might be slightly under the weather. I intend to fight it off in the next day or so, and be all better for Thanksgiving.

That’s my plan and I’m sticking to it.

NMAI

National Museum of the American Indian… well, it’s a museum but unfortuantely I feel that it’s a fairly poor museum.

I was there this weekend with K and I’m sorry to say that it was a disappointment. Or more accurately, I was disappointed that the reports that I’d heard from various critics were true.

The museum, I feel, is scattered and lacking focus. Plus, about 1/3 of the total space is taken up by "gift shop." The second floor is a total waste unless you’re interested in purchasing something and most of the first floor is the same.

There is very little (I might go so far as to say nothing) that educates visitors about Native American culture, how it began, the clash with the invading Europeans, and how it has changed and adapted to the present.

There is very little educating going on, and not much that is overtly interesting even in its own right.

The structure itself is very promising, but the implemenation of the inside is sad. :-/

Hah!

My uncle (D from Nebraska) sent me this today:

Cartoon Man Erasing Head

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

Happy Birthday K!

Everyone wish K a happy birthday, she turns 25 today.

Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you…

Ok, you all know the tune.

So Far, So Good…

Friday, November 19th, 2004

Ok, well so far today has been better than yesterday. Namely I haven’t hit anything :-p

Son of a…..!

Thursday, November 18th, 2004

Oh this day has not started well.

Pulling into the Meridian parking garage I scraped the rear passenger side wheel-well against a pylon. Son of a ….. ##*$)(#*!!

Now I’m going to have to find a place to get that fixed at (it is just paint) and find out how much it will cost.

I’m not stressed about it, but #%@#$@# I don’t want to pay to get it fixed nor take the time to find a place to get it repaired. sigh

Oh, and I bought a drink this morning and opened the cap — which promptly bubbled over. I think I ought to "call in" with bad luck and go home.

CSS Fun

Thursday, November 18th, 2004

Depending on one’s definition of fun, anyway.

In the upper right corner there is now a form labeled "select layout" from which can be used to switch between various style sheets that I create for the site.

There are currently three, all quite similar. Two are almost identical except for the color scheme and the "Original" is basically the same but without some of the refinements to the actual structure/layout of the page.

*shrug* I realize that no one cares, but I find that choice is a good thing.
