And…

Saturday, July 31st, 2004

This is a Post Script to yesterday… it was bloody hot and humid. And the next time I have to go somewhere, I will damn well read the map more carefully.

I walked waaaaaaay out of my way through DC on a hot, humid (sweltering, maybe?) day when I could have walked a block.

*sigh*

Cross Your Fingers for Me

Friday, July 30th, 2004

I had an interview at the National Governors Association today. I think it went well and I’m hoping to hear back from them "soon".

Wish me luck, cross your fingers… hmm… got any other good-luck charms or rituals? Feel free to send ‘em my way :)

Bills…

Anyone else think bills should just… go away? Good, me too.

Com’n Weekend!

Tuesday, July 20th, 2004

My mom and brother are coming down for a visit this weekend and we’re going to the beach, so that’s exciting.

Hmm… still got the groovy DSL speeds, too, so that’s a fun bonus. Oh, I applied for a job over at PBS. I think that’d be a cool place to work. Here’s hoping I get to find out.

Sweet!

Saturday, July 17th, 2004

Whoa, cool, my DSL service just went from a 1.5 Mbps down and 128 Kbps up service to a 3 Mbps down and 384 Kbps up.

I checked my account with my provider and the charge is still the same. Here’s hoping this was an unexpected and permanent free upgrade!

Friday Again

Friday, July 16th, 2004

Shocker, really… I mean, I’m sure that you were sitting there in your chair going “Well, hell, what day of the week is today?”

My apologies to anyone who checks this place out daily (hmm… I doubt there is such a beast, but none-the-less). I actually had thoughts to post throughout the past week, too. Of course, they are mostly missing right now.

In gaming news, Doom 3 has gone Gone Gold. It’s also been confirmed for the Mac, though at a somewhat delayed date. Mac-native ports of the two Neverwinter expansions have been announced, though their appeal is probably somewhat narrow. You could always have purchased the PC expansions and installed those with your Mac version of NWN.

Woo — Friday!

Friday, July 9th, 2004

Ok, now let it be the end of the workday…

Did some more-or-less minor editing to the blog last night, including some maintenance (updated to the actual WordPress 1.2 release, rather than the RC I was running). Made sure that it still validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional and that the CSS is valid, which actually did catch some problems.

I need to find out how to submit possible patches to the WP people. Hmm… I also have to figure out how to do diffs and patches, so that I can apply my modifications across version updates easily.

The 4th - Or, When Someone Misplaced an Ocean on my Head

Tuesday, July 6th, 2004

The 4th of July here in DC was a wet one. A very wet one.

I went to the parade as planned, but about 10 minutes after the parade started (I was at the 7th and Constitution, the beginning) an absolutely torrential downpour began.

The picture was taken on Rhode Island Ave. Seriously, lots of water.

So I stayed home to watch the fireworks. It was a little disappointing to not go in for the fireworks, but no one really wanted to after getting drenched earlier.

All in all, it was a fun day but it could have been better ;) .

Wooo…

Friday, July 2nd, 2004

Well, alright, it’s not quite party-time yet. But it will be soon, and that’s what matters.

A few years ago I got to watch fireworks from high up in an apartment complex overlooking the Charles River in Boston (very cool, except for the Citgo sign in the stadium).

This year, I’m going in to DC for the 4th. I’ll going to be at the parade in the morning (which is at 11:45). I don’t know if I’ll be actually in the city for the fireworks or watching from a place that was recommended to me along the GW Parkway.

Anyway, it’ll be fun and while I’m at the parade I can think “Gee, there are people watching this on TV but I’m here” ;) . Well, I assume that there will be people watching it on TV. I could be wrong.
